Tell us about yourself as a person?
I'm an actor, writer and model from NYC. I am also a writer for
Gorezone Magazine, which is a horror magazine based in the UK. I have
appeared in over 40 independent films. I grew up in New Jersey and in
North Carolina. The longer I live in New York, the more I realize that
I'm not really a city person! I love the country. I also love animals
and would love to have a farm and perhaps an animal shelter one day. I
have two little black cats - Loki and Monki.
How did you get started in modelling?
I was going to college (studying business management), and my boyfriend
at the time suggested I try modeling as a way to make some extra
money. I mailed snapshots to a number of different agencies, and got a
few responses, and signed non-exclusively with a few of them.
Tell us about your feature film "Won Ton Baby" and your role.
"Won Ton Baby!" is an homage to cult classic horror flicks that I grew
up on like "Evil Dead", It's Alive", and "Basket Case". It's
incredibly tongue in
cheek, and is meant to amuse. I'm very,
very fond of the "horror/comedy" genre, and "Won Ton Baby!" is an
example of this indeed! The story surrounds an angry young fetus
infetu (parasitic twin) who resembles a cross between a baby sumo
wrestler and Elvis Presley. I play Little Wing Won Ton, the loving
and quite naive sister of baby Won Ton.
How do you keep yourself in top shape?
I walk alot, I do cardio at the gym (often the elliptical machine and
treadmill), and I also lift weights a few times a week. Yoga is
wonderful as well,
and really helps elongate the body and make
you more limber. Plus it is a great stress reliever, and way to really
get in touch with your body.
Please tell us about your normal diet (eg. generally what do you eat for breakfast, lunch, dinner).
Breakfast is usually a big bowl of oatmeal with brown sugar and/or berries.
Lunch is often a sandwich (ideally a lean protein like fish or
turkey), and then maybe something sweet like a cup of pudding or a
granola bar.
Dinner runs the gamut, and tends to be whatever I am
craving at that point. Anything from fish to pasta to pizza to tacos.
Oh, and I am a sugar addict
that is my biggest weakness! I love dessert.
Tell us about your exercise routine.
It is varied, but I vow at a bare minimum to walk at least 30 minutes 5
days a week. Ideally, I hit the gym 3 to 5 days a week for a half hour
to an hour
(depending on my time available and my motivation level! ;-)
How do you motivate yourself to eat healthy in daily life?
I just think of how much better I feel when I eat well. It's kind of
akin to putting really cheap or tainted fuel in a car. It just won't
perform as well. Your body is the same way, and if you fill it with
garbage, you will feel like garbage. If you focus on a good healthy
balance of protein and carbs and good fats (such as olive oil and fish
oil), you will feel better and have more energy.
Your message for our obesity campaign readers - “How to lose weight and get rid of obesity”.
Just do something. Even small steps are great. Whether it's getting
outside for a 20 minute walk or chasing your kids around the park, try
to incorporate fitness and activity into your daily life as much as
possible. Often, once you start moving, you feel energized and want to
do more. In terms of diet, just remember, everything in moderation.
If you want that giant piece of cake, have it. But just make sure that
your next several meals are balanced and healthy. And as that old
saying goes, "Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels". And not to
mention the health benefits. Being fit really helps your body
function better and puts you at much lower risk for so many diseases.
